A trip in Northern Italy

di Sofia Ippolito e Giulio Malandruccolo

Last week, classes attending the fourth year went to a school trip for 4 days to spend two days visiting Verona and Mantua, one day visiting the Word EXPO 2015: FEEDING THE PLANET, ENERGY FOR LIFE in Milan and the last day visiting Modena.
The journey started at 6 o’clock in the morning, our first aim was visiting Verona where we have seen Giulietta’s home and her balcony. Our teachers left us free to visit the city for about three hours then we got the bus and we went to Gardesana Turistic Residence where we stayed during this trip.
The day after, after a rich breakfast we went to Mantua where we saw the historical center of the city with a lot of monuments and important buildings that were built by the Gonzaga family in XV century. Then we had “lunch” in a Risto-pub near Mantua, it’s better not to give you any other information because they left us with no words!
In the afternoon we spent the rest of the day having a walk in Lazise where we saw the Lake of Garda.
The third day was the most important because we visited the EXPO. After a long queue we finally got inside the Exposition and we started running like children in a sweet shop in order to see most of the pavilions that left us with no oxygen (this time in a good way!).
It’s difficult to explain how beautiful it was, each State had its own structure, offering different architectural styles and colors and unbelievable technology. It’s hard, almost impossible to visit all the pavilions in one day, but we suggest you to go there and visit it because it’s once in a lifetime phenomenon.
That night we were exhausted but the day after we recharged ourselves with a full belly, in fact we had a FANTASTIC LUNCH in a farm holiday (agriturismo) in Modena.
The homecoming was pretty awful as we didn’t want to leave our friends and go back to school, anyway step by step we are re-getting used to school rhythm, but we miss all those fantastic places.
